Because of changes within the organization, Cordaid’s previous location no longer met their needs and requirements, so they started the search for a new location. They chose a top location in the center of the Hague. Marts designed the interior for their new office. We were also responsible for supervising construction and project management for the relocation. Moreover, we gave advice about contract management and procurement of soft and hard services.

The emphasis for the new interior was creating a new and improved work environment while reusing as much as possible of the existing furniture. The new office of circa 2500 m2 contains height-adjustable desks, bamboo meeting tables from the existing inventory, and refurbished meeting chairs. It was also important that the design supported the type of work that is common for Cordaid; because of the many contact moments with colleagues from offices in other countries, including Africa and Asia, there was a large need for smaller meeting rooms that supported online meetings. The canteen is no longer just a place for lunch, but also a place to meet people and to work. Photo walls with pictures from Cordaid’s personal archive and patterns and upholsteries which hint to the countries where the organization is located make Cordaid’s vivid character clearly visible in the new colorful interior. Together with Wielenga Projectinrichting, we have made this project a success.
